About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to residents in a transition house, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment
  • Assist with daily operations including laundry, food service preparation, and light cleaning
  • Answer the 24-hour crisis line and perform telephone screenings
  • Complete intakes, house orientations, and record relevant shift information in logs and reports
  • Provide crisis intervention, mediation, and conflict resolution within the house
  • Perform regular security checks and ensure the enforcement of house policies
  • Liaise with referral sources, police, social workers, and other external agencies
  • Maintain strict client and house confidentiality at all times

Requirements

  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in social services or equivalent training in a related field
  • At least one year of experience in a residential social services setting
  • Knowledge of domestic violence support and experience working with women and children
  • Training in trauma-informed care
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR certification
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for working with children and vulnerable adults
  • Availability for a range of shifts including overnights, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
  • FoodSafe certificate
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate
