Requirements
Certificate, diploma, or degree in social services, Emergency First Aid & CPR, Criminal Record Check, One year residential social services experience, Knowledge of domestic violence support, Trauma-informed care training
About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide support and assistance to residents in a transition house, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment
- Assist with daily operations including laundry, food service preparation, and light cleaning
- Answer the 24-hour crisis line and perform telephone screenings
- Complete intakes, house orientations, and record relevant shift information in logs and reports
- Provide crisis intervention, mediation, and conflict resolution within the house
- Perform regular security checks and ensure the enforcement of house policies
- Liaise with referral sources, police, social workers, and other external agencies
- Maintain strict client and house confidentiality at all times
Requirements
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in social services or equivalent training in a related field
- At least one year of experience in a residential social services setting
- Knowledge of domestic violence support and experience working with women and children
- Training in trauma-informed care
- Emergency First Aid & CPR certification
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for working with children and vulnerable adults
- Availability for a range of shifts including overnights, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
- FoodSafe certificate
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate
