About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors by monitoring activities
- Offer personal, practical, and morale support to clients
- Maintain accurate records of day-to-day happenings, including logbooks and occurrence reports
- Coordinate client care relating to security issues, such as bed checks and room searches
- Liaise with external agencies including social development, police, and parole officers
- Handle client admission, orientation, and enforcement of facility policies and rules
- Perform property and grounds security inspections in accordance with procedures
Requirements
- Post-secondary student with a high school diploma
- Completion of specialized courses in Addictions, Correctional, or Human Services
- Ability to pass a Police Record Check (vulnerable sector check) and obtain reliability security clearance
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain it)
- Eligibility for the Canada Summer Jobs program (must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
