About the role

Responsibilities

  • Validate IDs of all persons entering designated residential living center doors
  • Ensure all visitors and guests are signed in and appropriate sponsorship is confirmed
  • Communicate university access policies effectively to non-authorized visitors
  • Use sound judgment and reasoning when managing questionable or ambiguous situations
  • Prepare accurate written reports regarding unauthorized access, including incident reports and judicial complaints
  • Utilize standard radio communications to report incidents to Public Safety
  • Perform foot patrols as required

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid New York State Security Guard license (or ability to obtain one)
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check, including criminal records and character references
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and participate in future random screenings
  • Ability to work scheduled night shifts (8:00 pm – 6:00 am)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a collegiate or university setting
