About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment for residents experiencing homelessness
  • Manage resident intake, orientation, and evaluation processes according to program guidelines
  • Monitor incoming traffic, verify identification, and enforce safety protocols
  • Conduct resident interviews, assist with goal setting, and provide guidance on healthy life skills
  • Mediate resident conflicts and utilize de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, occurrence reports, and program documentation
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and assist with linen management
  • Liaise with internal teams and external agencies such as police or emergency services when necessary
  • Monitor resident medication and personal belongings in accordance with policy

Requirements

  • High school diploma (specialized courses up to six months are a plus)
  • 3 to 12 months of frontline experience in a social service setting
  • Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Child Intervention Check Clearance
  • Current Standard First Aid certification with Level A or C CPR
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word) and general database familiarity
  • Ability to work night shifts and stand for long periods
  • Demonstrated skills in trauma-informed care and non-violent crisis intervention
