About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming, positive, and safe environment for individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Handle resident admission, orientation, and intake interviews, including basic goal setting
  • Monitor incoming traffic and verify resident identification to ensure safety protocols are followed
  • Support residents in developing healthy life skills and making positive choices
  • Mediate resident conflicts to prevent or resolve altercations using de-escalation techniques
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, occurrence reports, and program documentation
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and assist with linen and laundry needs
  • Liaise with internal and external agencies, including police and emergency services, when necessary

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-12 months of experience in a social service or frontline setting
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Child Intervention Check clearance
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR (Level A or C)
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and non-violent crisis intervention
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word) and database familiarity
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting belongings
