Resident Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components of residential appliances
• Install, adjust, and maintain refrigeration systems, equipment, instruments, and controls
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks on residential equipment, appliances, and furnishings
• Write concise, accurate reports and complete work logs/records
• Load and unload mechanical equipment from ground and elevated surfaces
• Interact with department contacts and UCLA personnel in a professional manner

Requirements

• 2 years of experience with HVAC and residential kitchen equipment
• Knowledge of refrigeration equipment, motors, gears, bearings, and fans
• Proficiency in plumbing procedures and device repair
• Working knowledge of 120/208V electrical systems and testing equipment (amp meters, volt meters, etc.)
• Ability to perform plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry repairs independently
• Skill in operating hand and power tools
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks like climbing, stooping, and crouching
• Valid CA noncommercial Class C Driver's License
• Current EPA Universal certificate for handling CFCs and HCFCs
• Ability to pass background checks, physical exams, and color vision testing
