About the role
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components of residential appliances including dishwashers, refrigeration units, ice machines, stoves, and microwaves.
- Install, adjust, and maintain refrigeration systems, equipment, instruments, and controls.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks including plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs for residential equipment and furnishings.
- Utilize appropriate safe practices and work methods to complete assignments.
- Write concise and accurate reports and maintain complete logs/records of work performed.
- Load and unload mechanical equipment and perform installations from ground level or elevated surfaces.
- Interact with department contacts and UCLA personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience working on HVAC equipment and proficiency in repairing residential kitchen equipment.
- Working knowledge of refrigeration equipment, mechanical components (motors, gears, bearings, fans), and distribution systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing residential kitchen appliances and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of 120/208V electrical systems, automatic controls, and the use of testing equipment (amp meters, volt meters, etc.).
- Ability to perform semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry repairs independently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing, stooping, and crouching for extended periods.
- Valid California Class C Driver License.
- Current EPA Universal certificate for handling CFCs and HCFCs.
