Resident Engineer - Rail and Transit

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily construction activities and Resident Engineering Inspection for the Hudson Tunnel mega-project.
• Conduct technical reviews of construction plans, specifications, and project changes to ensure constructability.
• Ensure staff safety, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination with government and regulatory agencies.
• Monitor contractor performance, schedule adherence, and overall effectiveness to meet cost and quality standards.
• Administer the contractor payment process and recommend adjustments based on completed work.
• Facilitate meetings with contractors, clients, local agencies, and community stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in Construction Contract Administration for related work.
• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of geotechnical principles, soil and rock mechanics, and construction methods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of New Jersey or the ability to obtain it.
• Experience with large-scale capital improvement projects in the Northern New Jersey/NYC area.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT, and Amtrak Standards.
• Experience with geotechnical programs such as LPILE, GROUP, or Plaxis.
