About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead construction inspection staff for infrastructure and transportation projects in the New York City Metro Area
- Act as the primary field liaison between the Owner and the Contractor
- Plan, organize, and supervise engineering and construction inspection activities
- Monitor construction detailed cost breakdowns and construction schedules
- Serve as the senior representative for contractor construction activities, payments, and the negotiation of claims and change orders
- Supervise a diverse staff including engineers, inspectors, project controls, and office engineers
- Lead progress meetings and interact with clients on a daily basis
- Coordinate responses to Technical Submittals, RFIs, and other technical issues with design engineers
- Lead final project closeout documentation
- Interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in the infrastructure or transit industry
- Experience managing rail/transit projects, utilities, or structural rehabilitation projects with a minimum construction value of $50M
- Previous Resident Engineering experience working with public rail infrastructure agencies
- Familiarity with NY-Area Agency Standards
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards
- Professional Engineering License (PE) or the ability to obtain one in New York State
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Ability to work night shifts and weekends as necessary to oversee projects
- Excellent communication skills
