About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction inspection staff for infrastructure and transportation projects in the New York City Metro Area
  • Act as the primary field liaison between the Owner and the Contractor
  • Plan, organize, and supervise engineering and construction inspection activities
  • Monitor construction detailed cost breakdowns and construction schedules
  • Serve as the senior representative for contractor construction activities, payments, and the negotiation of claims and change orders
  • Supervise a diverse staff including engineers, inspectors, project controls, and office engineers
  • Lead progress meetings and interact with clients on a daily basis
  • Coordinate responses to Technical Submittals, RFIs, and other technical issues with design engineers
  • Lead final project closeout documentation
  • Interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in the infrastructure or transit industry
  • Experience managing rail/transit projects, utilities, or structural rehabilitation projects with a minimum construction value of $50M
  • Previous Resident Engineering experience working with public rail infrastructure agencies
  • Familiarity with NY-Area Agency Standards
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or the ability to obtain one in New York State
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Ability to work night shifts and weekends as necessary to oversee projects
  • Excellent communication skills
