About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the planning, design, construction, and maintenance phases of tunnel and ventilation shaft projects
- Provide technical expertise in tunneling engineering, including design review and construction methodologies
- Implement QA/QC procedures to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications
- Identify potential risks and hazards associated with tunneling and develop mitigation strategies
- Liaise with project stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and local communities
- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards
- Maintain accurate project records, including construction documentation and inspection reports
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a construction-related field or equivalent work experience
- 10-15+ years of experience in field construction
- 10+ years of experience in tunneling, underground construction, or ventilation engineering
- Proficiency in CAD tools and technical analysis software such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- In-depth knowledge of tunneling methods, ventilation systems, and geotechnical engineering principles
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards including OSHA, ASTM, and NFPA
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or professional certification, such as a PE license
- Experience in the construction of large civil, structural, or industrial projects
