Resident Engineer - Heavy Civil

Responsibilities

• Manage the planning, design, construction, and maintenance phases of tunnel and ventilation shaft projects
• Provide technical expertise in tunneling engineering, including design review, construction methodologies, and materials selection
• Implement QA/QC procedures to monitor construction activities, inspect workmanship, and ensure compliance with project specifications
• Identify potential risks and hazards associated with tunneling and develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans
• Liaise with project stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, consultants, and local communities
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and resource allocation to optimize project efficiency
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards
• Maintain accurate project records, including construction documentation, inspection reports, and compliance certificates

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a construction-related field or equivalent work experience
• 10-15+ years of experience in field construction
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in tunneling, underground construction, or ventilation engineering
• Proficiency in CAD tools and technical analysis software such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or ANSYS
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations including OSHA, ASTM, and NFPA
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree or professional certification, such as a PE license
• Experience in the construction of large civil/structural or industrial projects in domestic or foreign locations
