Resident Advisor

Responsibilities

• Oversee, mentor, and provide academic support to a group of 12-14 high school students within the Upward Bound program.
• Live in the residence hall for a six-week period to provide a supportive and structured environment.
• Supervise student participants daily, ensuring adherence to program policies, curfew, and disciplinary standards.
• Plan and implement community-building activities, including icebreakers and team-building exercises.
• Collaborate with the administrative team to implement crisis management protocols and emergency procedures.
• Assist with daily operations, including preparing materials, managing supplies, and maintaining safety regulations.
• Serve as a role model and be available on-call 24 hours a day, five days a week.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor’s degree program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
• Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in high-volume, high-accountability, and confidential environments.
• Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity.
• Strong organizational, logistical, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in education, Liberal Arts, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of experience working with TRIO or Educational Equity Programs.
• One year of experience working with low-income, first-generation, or underrepresented students.
• One year of experience living and working in a college residential setting.
• Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
