Resident Advisor

Responsibilities

• Supervise shelter activities to ensure the safety of all participants
• Manage shelter intakes, reentry interviews, and after-hours referrals
• Oversee bunk assignments, dorm inspections, and property storage
• Maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and participant records using manual and web-based systems
• Perform urinalysis and breathalyzer testing of participants as required
• Facilitate problem-solving and provide crisis intervention services to participants
• Attend regular agency and program staff meetings

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take corrective action when necessary
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in computer use and professional phone etiquette
• Crisis intervention skills
• Ability to maintain adequate hearing and vision for participant and staff interaction
• Ability to work in an indoor office setting with occasional noise and scents

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct or lived experience with homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations
• Understanding of issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault
