Resident Advisor

Responsibilities

• Supervise shelter activities to ensure the safety of participants
• Manage intakes, interviews, and after-hours referrals
• Oversee bunk assignments, dorm inspections, and property storage
• Maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and participant records using manual and web-based systems
• Perform urinalysis and breathalyzer testing of participants as needed
• Facilitate de-escalation, problem-solving, and crisis intervention services
• Attend agency and program staff meetings

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to appropriately assess situations and de-escalate or take corrective action
• Proficiency with computers and office productivity equipment
• Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of a shelter environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct or lived experience with homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations
• Understanding of issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault
