About the Company

For over 50 years, Covenant House New York (CHNY) has been at the forefront of transforming lives by providing comprehensive shelter, housing, and wrap-around support services for vulnerable homeless, runaway, and exploited youth. CHNY impacts the lives of over 1,500 young people aged 16-24 every year.

Responsibilities

• Directly engage, supervise, and support youth residing at the Mother/Child site
• Ensure the site and youth rooms are clean and kept in safe condition
• Welcome and orient youth to site expectations, mission, and child protection protocols
• Assist youth with daily preparation, including ensuring they are fed and on time for school or work
• Monitor program and client activities to ensure a safe and secure environment
• Cook or assist in cooking meals for youth and facilitate post-meal cleanup
• Provide support to Case Managers with paperwork, filing, and appointment follow-ups
• Maintain records in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) computer system
• Escort youth to external agencies, hospitals, or school visits
• De-escalate crises and attend to emergencies following agency protocol

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of relevant work experience
• 8-hour security license (Covenant House will provide training if needed)
• Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Strong focus on child protection and resident safety
• Interest in working with youth experiencing homelessness

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience working with at-risk or homeless young females
• Driver's license and comfort driving a 7-passenger van
