About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality research, reference, and instructional support split equally between the University Library and the Writing Center.
- Conduct advanced literature searches and provide guidance on evidence-based medicine, systematic searching, and citation management.
- Develop and deliver instruction on database searching, research methodologies, and information literacy.
- Offer individual and group consultations focusing on scientific writing, research integration, and adherence to disciplinary styles (AMA, APA, etc.).
- Create educational resources, including research guides, workshops, and templates that bridge research skills with scientific writing.
- Collaborate with faculty and writing specialists to embed research and writing skills into medical and health sciences curricula.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (ALA-accredited) or equivalent.
- Experience providing reference and instructional services, preferably in a health sciences or academic library setting.
- Strong knowledge of biomedical databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and Cochrane Library.
- Demonstrated ability to support academic or scientific writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a Writing Center or providing formal writing instruction.
- Familiarity with AMA, APA, and other scientific writing styles.
- Experience integrating research and writing instruction into academic curricula.
- Knowledge of scholarly communication trends, including open access and AI-informed research tools.
- Background in health sciences or related fields.
