About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of the OceanOmics Centre, including eDNA and genomics laboratory workflows
  • Collaborate with researchers, academic, and professional staff to develop and optimise protocols
  • Ensure high-quality data production for marine biodiversity research
  • Contribute to the development of open-access repositories of marine vertebrate reference genomes and eDNA datasets
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and assist in training others in laboratory procedures

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in science (e.g., genetics, genomics, molecular biology) or equivalent experience
  • Proven skills in DNA extraction and sequencing library preparation
  • Experience using molecular biology instrumentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
