Research Technician Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead daily execution of breeding activities including pollinations, seed harvesting, sowing, transplanting, and trial setup
• Implement work schedules for Technicians to meet trial timelines and quality standards
• Provide technical guidance to the technician team and monitor task completion
• Coordinate pollination activities, seed harvesting, processing, and storage across multiple breeding programs
• Verify trial setups with proper labeling, arrangement, and documentation
• Proactively scout and monitor crops for pests, diseases, and viruses
• Ensure consistent implementation of all HSES protocols, phytosanitary requirements, and SOPs
• Identify and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and safety in breeding operations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least 3 years of relevant growing, breeding, trialing, or agriculture work experience
• Proven experience successfully supervising a team with a collaborative mindset
• Experience in horticulture practices in greenhouse and field environments
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
• Proficient in basic computer programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S. degree in a related field
• Knowledge of greenhouse operations, live-goods production, or horticulture
