About the role
Responsibilities
- Support ex vivo lung perfusion experiments and assist with the setup and operation of perfusion systems.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, precision cut lung slices, and histology samples.
- Perform molecular and cellular assays, including flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, and multiplexed cytokine analysis.
- Collect and analyze tissue, blood, and perfusate samples for downstream research.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, manage inventory, and ensure the proper function of equipment such as centrifuges and anesthesia machines.
- Maintain accurate experimental records, surgical notes, and detailed procedural logs.
- Ensure compliance with biosafety, animal care, and ACC/IACUC protocols.
Requirements
- BSc or college diploma in Physiology, Biomedical Science, Veterinary Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in an academic research setting.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory procedures including sample collection, centrifugation, and reagent preparation.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and experimental care protocols.
- Excellent computer skills, specifically with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods in operating rooms, testing facilities, and wet labs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in ex vivo organ perfusion or surgical support.
- Experience handling pre-clinical models, including perioperative care.
- Technical expertise in cell/tissue culture, cell immunology, and magnetic cell separation.
