About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage and organize the laboratory animal colony, including mouse breeding, weaning, genotyping, and health monitoring.
- Perform molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR-based genotyping, and gel electrophoresis.
- Prepare and process tissue samples for histology, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and tissue-clearing.
- Conduct immunofluorescence staining of brain and vascular tissues and assist with quantitative analysis.
- Support biochemical assays including ELISA, Western blotting, and cytokine/protein arrays.
- Assist with flow cytometry/FACS-based experiments, including tissue dissociation and antibody staining.
- Maintain general laboratory operations, including reagent preparation, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related biomedical science field.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Willingness to handle animals and perform animal-related procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior laboratory experience in a research setting.
- Experience with mouse colony management and PCR genotyping.
- Proficiency in histology techniques, such as cryosectioning or vibratome sectioning.
- Experience with confocal imaging, tissue clearing, or flow cytometry.
- Familiarity with data analysis software such as ImageJ/Fiji, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, or Excel.
