About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform Drosophila husbandry and stock-changing (50% of role)
  • Provide general research support, including preparing solutions, autoclaving, and dishwashing
  • Maintain laboratory safety and cleanliness to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage equipment maintenance, ordering, and reconciliation of lab supplies
  • Maintain data backups and assist in training personnel on research technologies
  • Support the Principal Investigator and other lab investigators as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or a related science
  • Experience with Drosophila husbandry and genetics
  • Experience with thin-layer chromatography

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a medium-sized Drosophila stock collection
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills
  • Proficiency with standard office and lab software and databases
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
