About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform Drosophila husbandry and stock-changing (50% of role)
- Provide general research support, including preparing solutions, autoclaving, and dishwashing
- Maintain laboratory safety and cleanliness to ensure regulatory compliance
- Manage equipment maintenance, ordering, and reconciliation of lab supplies
- Maintain data backups and assist in training personnel on research technologies
- Support the Principal Investigator and other lab investigators as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or a related science
- Experience with Drosophila husbandry and genetics
- Experience with thin-layer chromatography
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a medium-sized Drosophila stock collection
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills
- Proficiency with standard office and lab software and databases
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
