About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for multiple physiological studies evaluating submariner and diver responses to hyperbaric and environmental stressors
- Develop physiological models utilizing signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
- Design hardware integration and write software for biomedical and human factors data collection
- Develop and test physiological sensors to support human-machine integration
- Manage experimental subject recruitment, monitoring, and data assembly
- Prepare research protocols, technical reports, pre-proposals, and journal publications
- Present findings and recommendations to the fleet through formal briefings and meetings
Requirements
- Ph.D. in physiology, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field
- US citizenship is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
- Proven ability to apply human physiology knowledge to mission-critical objectives
- Demonstrated scientific achievement through publications and professional memberships
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in physiological modeling and signal processing
- Experience developing physiological sensors for predicting or mitigating stressors in extreme environments
- Previous experience working within a military command
- Knowledge of research regarding human performance in submarine environments
