Research Scientist, Operations Research

Responsibilities

• Formulate mathematical models and design efficient algorithms, heuristics, and meta-heuristics for optimization problems in scenarios like AI data centers and cloud resource scheduling.
• Explore "AI for OR" by integrating LLM, Reinforcement Learning (RL), and Agent technologies into the operations research optimization pipeline.
• Develop natural language-based decision engine interfaces and enhance the interpretability of optimization results.
• Design and optimize state-of-the-art vector indexing algorithms to power large-scale similarity search and hybrid retrieval.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Database, Information Retrieval, or a related field with strong research achievements (e.g., first-author papers at CCF-A conferences).
• Solid foundation in operations research theory, including linear programming, integer programming, and combinatorial optimization.
• Proficiency with mainstream commercial or open-source solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or CP-SAT.
• Experience with (meta-)heuristic algorithms like genetic algorithms or simulated annealing.
• Strong engineering skills with proficiency in Python, C++, or Java.
• Excellent logical thinking and the ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Domain knowledge in datacenter hardware supply chain operations or cloud computing product implementation.
• Familiarity with LLMs, reinforcement learning, and Agent frameworks such as LangGraph.
• Experience with prompt engineering optimization and Agent development.
• Strong interest in combining traditional operations research with generative AI.
