Responsibilities

• Develop and explore computational theories of intelligence, including reasoning, learning, and decision-making
• Work in close collaboration with domain experts to help solve scientific and societal problems
• Distill insights from problem-solving into general mathematical and computational theories
• Develop and maintain open-source software
• Optionally publish and present findings in journals and conferences
• Contribute to the culture and direction of Basis

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality scientific research (e.g., publications, technical reports, or software projects)
• Ability to work collaboratively on large-scale problems
• Willingness to work in-person in New York City or Cambridge, MA

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in statistics, programming languages, machine learning, computational neuroscience, cognitive science, physics, or mathematics
• Passion for solving real-world problems and creating positive societal impact
