About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct seed health testing and diagnostics using methods such as blotter tests, agar-based assays, dilution plating, and ELISA testing
  • Develop, standardize, and improve seed health testing protocols and diagnostic procedures
  • Ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results by following standard operating procedures and National Seed Health System standards
  • Maintain laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, chemical inventory, and supply management
  • Train and mentor student employees in laboratory techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry partners to support research and educational programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Seed Science, Plant Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field
  • Experience in seed health testing, seed pathology diagnostics, or plant disease identification
  • At least one year of experience working in a high-volume laboratory testing environment
  • Experience preparing selective agar media, performing dilution plating, and conducting ELISA assays
  • Proficiency in interpreting diagnostic test results and maintaining accurate laboratory records
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance practices and laboratory safety protocols
