About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead epidemiologist for COVID-19-related research and co-investigator for cross-bureau special projects
  • Propose scientific studies regarding long-term mental and physical health effects of multiple disaster exposure
  • Lead manuscript development and mentor junior scientists
  • Oversee administrative tasks including budgeting, vendor contracts, and IRB processes
  • Manage external research partnerships and collaborations
  • Conduct independent analyses of WTCHR data using longitudinal and hierarchical methods
  • Supervise research staff and interns

Requirements

  • Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related biological/environmental science
  • Doctorate degree with one year of supervisory or research experience, or Master's degree with three years of research experience
  • Proficiency in statistics and programming languages such as SAS, STATA, or R
  • Experience in longitudinal study design and analysis
  • Ability to apply mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative) to disaster studies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in COVID-19 and/or disaster health
  • Proven history of publishing in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience mentoring less experienced analysts and scientists
