Research Scientist

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, analytical, and chemical testing on parts, samples, and materials
• Conduct visual inspections, microscopy analysis, and quantitative analysis
• Create final reports for tests, investigations, and research projects
• Develop new test methods and execute activities including tensile, leak, burst, cycle, impact, and flow testing
• Manage chemical handling, storage, and waste disposal within the lab
• Maintain a safe working environment and apply 5S culture
• Take ownership of the chemical lab under the supervision of the Research Lab manager

Requirements

• 4+ years of laboratory experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, plastics, metals, or relevant academic/industrial settings
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, or an equivalent science field
• Strong understanding of the scientific method and problem-solving techniques
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in analytical testing or R&D within relevant industries
• Proficiency operating and interpreting data from FTIR, TGA, DSC, SEM, EDS, or XRF
• Experience with DMA testing, including creep analysis and time-temperature superposition
• Knowledge of material characterization, including surface analysis and chemical compatibility
• Experience with chemical compatibility between plastics, elastomers, metals, and fluids
