About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical, analytical, and chemical testing on parts, samples, and materials
- Conduct visual inspections, microscopy analysis, and quantitative analysis
- Create final reports for tests, investigations, and research projects
- Develop new test methods and execute activities including tensile, leak, burst, cycle, impact, and flow testing
- Manage chemical handling, storage, and waste disposal within the lab
- Maintain a safe working environment and apply 5S culture
- Take ownership of the chemical lab under the supervision of the Research Lab manager
Requirements
- 4+ years of laboratory experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, plastics, metals, or relevant academic/industrial settings
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, or an equivalent science field
- Strong understanding of the scientific method and problem-solving techniques
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in analytical testing or R&D within relevant industries
- Proficiency operating and interpreting data from FTIR, TGA, DSC, SEM, EDS, or XRF
- Experience with DMA testing, including creep analysis and time-temperature superposition
- Knowledge of material characterization, including surface analysis and chemical compatibility
- Experience with chemical compatibility between plastics, elastomers, metals, and fluids
