Research Scientist

Responsibilities

• Carry out advanced finite element tool development for acoustics and electro-mechanical applications, including high-order problems.
• Architect advanced geometry, mesh generation, and analyses attribution software tools and methods for physics-based computational approaches.
• Perform modeling computations using developed tools across various physical systems and tests.
• Conduct verification and validation of results against experimental databases and other models.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all quality and procedural requirements.

Requirements

• M.S. in physics, engineering, or mathematics.
• Three (3) years of experience with expertise in finite element methods, geometric modeling, mesh generation, and adaptation.
• US citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance and access to the NRL facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced programming skills, including proficiency in C++.
• Demonstrated experience in the development and application of modeling tools for large-scale computational mechanics, including structures, flow, and wave problems.
