About the role

Responsibilities

  • Explore, co-design, and optimize parallelisms, compute efficiency, and distributed training/inference paradigms to improve GenAI system scalability.
  • Innovate novel model deployment techniques to ensure sustained scaling and hardware efficiency during GenAI serving.
  • Benchmark, analyze, and model AI workload performance to provide critical feedback for future hardware, model, and runtime designs.
  • Prototype and productionize highly optimized ML kernels to unlock the full potential of current and future accelerators.
  • Influence the hardware roadmap of Meta’s custom AI accelerators and guide design requirements at both system and silicon levels.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive high-impact technical milestones across multiple engineering organizations.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field (or a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience).
  • Proven research experience in hardware-aware model enablement or performance modeling of AI systems and accelerators.
  • Hands-on proficiency with end-to-end AI hardware architecture, including logic, architecture, and PPA optimizations.
  • Theoretical and practical experience with AI models such as CNNs, Transformers, LLMs, or Diffusion models.
  • Experience in system-level performance analysis, profiling, and benchmarking of AI workloads.
  • In-depth proficiency in Python and at least one major AI framework.
  • A track record of publishing research papers at peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying AI agents or utilizing pre-training techniques for increased efficiency.
  • Knowledge of training and inference for large-scale deep learning models.
  • Familiarity with low-level programming for specialized hardware (e.g., CUDA, HIP, Triton) or hardware description languages (HDL).
  • Experience with distributed ML systems and algorithm development.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI models (LLMs/LDMs) or Ranking & Recommendation models (DLRM).
