About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform behavioral health and performance research at NASA’s Johnson Space Center to support human spaceflight exploration.
- Facilitate ongoing studies, develop grant proposals, and write directed research proposals for NASA or external funding organizations.
- Conduct data collection, cleaning, and organization, and perform complex data analysis and interpretation.
- Draft interim and final reports, literature reviews, and scientific journal articles.
- Disseminate research findings through presentations to NASA program management, scientific conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including flight surgeons, mission managers, and NASA stakeholders, to execute research plans.
- Provide subject matter expertise for research design, methodologies, and assessments related to behavioral health and performance.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Psychology (Neuropsychology, Clinical, I/O, Space, Health Psychology, or Behavioral Medicine).
- At least 3 years of experience in one of the required psychology fields.
- Proven experience conducting behavioral health and performance research, including literature reviews and data analysis.
- Proficiency with software tools including R and RMarkdown.
- Strong technical and scientific writing skills for reports, briefings, and project plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing, coordinating, or directing research projects.
- Experience working within NASA, Aerospace, Military, or other operational environments.
- Experience evaluating technologies for measuring behavioral health outcomes or applying countermeasures in spaceflight environments.
