About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform routine molecular biology experiments including PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, plasmid preparation, and cloning support
- Maintain bacterial strains, plasmids, and organized sample inventories
- Assist with bacterial culture, reagent preparation, and media preparation
- Support mouse colony documentation, genotype verification, and breeder-health record coordination
- Manage sample collection, processing, labeling, storage, and data organization
- Maintain accurate lab notebooks, shared records, and inventory databases
- Handle laboratory operations including ordering supplies, receiving shipments, and maintaining equipment records
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety, and animal research procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, or biochemistry
- 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Careful attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with BSL-2 laboratory practices
- Experience with mouse colony record keeping and genotyping
- Proficiency with molecular biology techniques such as cloning and bacterial culture
- Familiarity with laboratory ordering and inventory management systems
