Research Laboratory Technician Senior

Responsibilities

• Perform routine molecular biology experiments including PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, plasmid preparation, and cloning support
• Maintain bacterial strains, plasmids, and organized sample inventories
• Assist with bacterial culture, reagent preparation, and media preparation
• Support mouse colony documentation, genotype verification, and breeder-health record coordination
• Manage sample collection, processing, labeling, storage, and data organization
• Maintain accurate lab notebooks, shared records, and inventory databases
• Handle laboratory operations including ordering supplies, receiving shipments, and maintaining equipment records
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety, and animal research procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, or biochemistry
• 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Careful attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with BSL-2 laboratory practices
• Experience with mouse colony record keeping and genotyping
• Proficiency with molecular biology techniques such as cloning and bacterial culture
• Familiarity with laboratory ordering and inventory management systems
