Research Lab Tech Intermediate

Responsibilities

• Perform physical specimen work including updating labels, sorting, filing, and managing shipments
• Manage digital specimen databases by entering, uploading, and editing data, including georeferencing
• Execute digital imaging workflows, including processing, archiving, and uploading specimen images
• Support staff and curators by coordinating, training, and supervising temporary personnel, students, and visitors
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for all collection-based tasks and operations

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum of one year of museum or collections-based experience and knowledge of related procedures
• Experience using photographic equipment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with both PC and Macintosh computers
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to assist in training and supervising teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree specifically relevant to biology, ecology, conservation, museums, or libraries
• Direct herbarium curatorial experience and knowledge of herbarium procedures
• Minimum of one year of experience using a collection management database (e.g., Specify)
