About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the research colony manager, overseeing transgenic mouse colonies and genetic crosses
- Facilitate day-to-day laboratory operations, including weaning and genotyping
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and serve as the point of contact for IACUC inspections
- Manage laboratory tracking systems, including LIMBS and RockStep's Climb Platform
- Coordinate with the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM) and the broader research team
- Onboard and train undergraduate research assistants and junior technicians in lab protocols and equipment operation
- Assist faculty, students, and postdocs with animal research and behavior assays
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in veterinary science or a similar scientific field
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a mouse colony manager
- At least 6 years of direct experience with mouse handling, including weaning, genotyping, and health monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with laboratory management systems
