About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the research colony manager, overseeing transgenic mouse colonies and genetic crosses
  • Facilitate day-to-day laboratory operations, including weaning and genotyping
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and serve as the point of contact for IACUC inspections
  • Manage laboratory tracking systems, including LIMBS and RockStep's Climb Platform
  • Coordinate with the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM) and the broader research team
  • Onboard and train undergraduate research assistants and junior technicians in lab protocols and equipment operation
  • Assist faculty, students, and postdocs with animal research and behavior assays

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in veterinary science or a similar scientific field
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a mouse colony manager
  • At least 6 years of direct experience with mouse handling, including weaning, genotyping, and health monitoring

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with laboratory management systems
