About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop business processes to mitigate risks associated with the use of research funds
- Interpret complex research funding administration problems and applicable policies
- Negotiate research funding agreements with sponsors to ensure compliance with regulations
- Lead and direct a team of Research Funding Officers and Administrators
- Coordinate and guide applicants through various phases of the research funding application process
- Disseminate information regarding research funding programs and opportunities to the research community
- Manage the release or holding of funds according to internal and external compliance requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of education and equivalent experience
- 6-7 years of relevant experience, ideally in a post-secondary or similar institutional setting
- Proven supervisory and leadership experience
- Demonstrated expertise in agreement negotiation through to mutually acceptable terms
- Thorough knowledge of research funding agencies and how they fund faculty-driven research
- Expert knowledge of research-related and financial policies and procedures
- Strong analytical, statistical, and numerical skills
- Proficiency with information system tools, including spreadsheets, databases, and electronic sponsor systems
