Research Fellow - Soil Molecular Microbiologist

Responsibilities

• Undertake research on biogeochemical processes, soil health, and environmental biodiversity to develop sustainable management practices.
• Develop and apply mathematical models and spectra-based technology to predict key soil biogeochemical properties.
• Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to successful grant applications.
• Present research findings at national and international conferences.
• Supervise and mentor research students and assistants while contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate training.
• Collaborate across disciplines and engage with external stakeholders to strengthen the School’s research profile.

Requirements

• PhD in Microbiology, Microbial Ecology, Soil Science, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
• Proven experience in research regarding soil biological functionality, biodiversity, and biogeochemical processes.
• Proficiency in molecular microbiology technologies, bioinformatics, and DNA sequence data analysis.
• A strong track record of publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
