Research Extension Assistant Professor or Instructor, Animal Science

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in animal and veterinary sciences to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Provide leadership in animal and veterinary science research and extension programs.
• Work with socially and historically disadvantaged farmers in Alabama, specifically in the Black Belt Region, focusing on sustainable meat goat and beef cattle production systems.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement programming on animal production as an active member of the TU Cooperative Extension program.
• Establish and maintain competitive, extramurally funded research and extension programs.
• Participate in student advisement, curriculum development, and college-wide committees.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or a related field, or a DVM.
• Proven interest and understanding of animal production.
• Ability to develop a research/extension program in the area of animal sciences.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong foundation in molecular biology, biotechnology, and data science.
• Record of successful teaching and demonstrated scholarship.
• Record of peer-reviewed publications (journal articles, technical documents, etc.).
• Proven experience with grant applications and securing industry support for educational initiatives.
• Previous university-level teaching experience.
