Research Engineer, Retrieval & Search

Responsibilities

• Develop retrieval and search algorithms and methodologies in collaboration with the research team
• Deploy search methodologies into production for ChatGPT and the OpenAI API to serve millions of users
• Explore novel research topics in retrieval and search to inform long-term product strategy
• Partner with researchers, engineers, product managers, and designers to launch new features and capabilities

Requirements

• Extensive experience building and maintaining production machine learning systems
• Proven experience working with vector databases, search indices, or other data stores for retrieval use cases
• Experience building and iterating on internet-scale search systems
• Ability to own problems end-to-end and thrive in a fast-paced, loosely defined environment
