Research Engineer (Machine Translation)

Responsibilities

• Own and drive improvements to translation accuracy across supported language pairs
• Design, train, and evaluate neural MT models
• Develop and maintain rigorous evaluation pipelines using automated and human metrics
• Lead research and development of delimiter models for optimal segmentation in streaming speech
• Define and maintain a research roadmap for MT and simultaneous interpretation
• Identify, source, and curate training data including parallel corpora and synthetic data

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in machine translation, NLP, or multilingual modeling research
• Deep familiarity with neural MT architectures, Transformer variants, and large multilingual models
• Hands-on experience with simultaneous or streaming translation and low-latency decoding
• Strong command of MT evaluation methodology
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch
• Ability to set a research agenda and execute independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency in English plus working proficiency in at least one non-English language
• Experience with speech translation (end-to-end or cascaded)
• Familiarity with on-device or edge-optimized model deployment
• Prior work on low-resource language pairs or domain adaptation
• Published research at ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, or INTERSPEECH
