Research Engineer

About the Company

Chai is a research lab working on generative models for molecular design. We are building AI infrastructure to engineer new medicines with speed and precision. Our mission is to unlock progress towards better cures and better science.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize all the infrastructure & tooling upon which our AI research depends
• Collaborate with AI researchers to understand, implement and optimize new research directions
• Integrate AI models into production systems, ensuring scalability and reliability

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Strong proficiency in Python and PyTorch
• Deep understanding of operating system internals
• Experience with HPC infrastructure such as Slurm and Kubernetes
• Experience with performance engineering and profiling for CPU and GPU workloads
• Experience writing, building, and maintaining large-scale ETL pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in high-performance computing
• Experience with custom CUDA kernels and GPU programming
• Experience with AI/ML and data systems at scale
