About the role
Responsibilities
- Support legal and institutional reform in Ukraine regarding agricultural production, land markets, and EU accession.
- Use administrative and remotely sensed data to improve agricultural production statistics and profitability measures.
- Conduct research on market power in agricultural land markets and assess the impact of land market monopsony.
- Support mass valuation of agricultural and urban land to facilitate credit access and local revenue generation.
- Implement the Geospatial Aid Application (GSA) pilot and establish Land Parcel Identification Systems (LPIS).
- Coordinate with the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture (MEEA).
- Maintain dialogue with State Land Cadaster and Registry of Rights agencies regarding API-based data access.
Requirements
- PhD in economics or a related discipline.
- Proven track record of economic research specifically focused on Ukraine.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with impact evaluation literature.
- Demonstrated experience working with survey, administrative, and geospatial data.
- An active pipeline of journal publications or publishable work in progress.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with policymakers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with EU agricultural policy frameworks and statistics.
- Knowledge of literature regarding land tenure, institutions, and markets.
- Proficiency in the Ukrainian language.
