About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced analytical testing including Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP), DSC, TGA, and hydrogen chemisorption
  • Support physical property testing such as density, viscosity, and thermal measurements
  • Deliver accurate analytical results within required turnaround times to support refinery operations
  • Provide materials, contamination, and particle characterization to ensure crude assay quality and product performance
  • Identify wax presence and Wax Appearance Temperature (WAT) to aid crude handling and pipeline assessment
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and support equipment troubleshooting and implementation of new instrumentation
  • Prepare clear technical reports for customers and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Adhere to all safety standards and properly handle hazardous materials

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific area
  • Experience in advanced analytical testing and materials characterization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for analytical methods and laboratory instrumentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SEM/TEM/EDX microscopy, XRD, and chemical/physical absorption analysis
  • Familiarity with distillation, flash point testing, and vapor pressure methods
  • Proven expertise in direct analysis and complex sample preparation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment
  • Leadership or project management experience
