About the role
Responsibilities
- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards (e.g., IEC61439 & UL857).
- Perform 3D modelling and 2D drafting of product designs.
- Conduct product risk assessments through DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
- Build prototypes to support the development of product designs.
- Follow the Engineering change process for existing products and adhere to the NPDI process.
- Work closely with external suppliers and internal teams including Offering Management, Marketing, and Sales.
- Stay current with technological advancements to enhance product offerings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, design technology, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of design experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling using Creo, Solidworks, or equivalent software.
- Strong skills in 2D drafting (first and third angle projection) and GD&T.
- Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with power distribution applications or the data centre industry.
- Experience designing mild steel sheet welded assemblies and extruded/injection moulded plastic parts.
- Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFE (Design for Environment).
- Knowledge of PFMEA, Control plans, and Standard Operating Procedure preparation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Smartsheet.
