About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of clinical samples, including processing, cryopreservation, storage, and tracking of blood and other biological specimens.
- Ensure laboratory readiness and compliance with institutional biosafety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate, real-time tracking of biospecimens using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and databases.
- Prepare and edit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent implementation of research processes.
- Support laboratory operations by managing service contracts, coordinating with vendors, and assisting with IACUC-related documentation and amendments.
- Coordinate with clinical research teams to manage specimen collection schedules and ensure proper chain-of-custody.
- Monitor inventory and storage conditions, troubleshooting issues as needed to maintain sample integrity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
- Three years of related research or laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience with biospecimen processing and laboratory techniques.
- Proficiency in maintaining regulatory compliance and following established protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with clinical cohorts or human subjects research.
- Familiarity with PBMC isolation, aliquoting, and cryopreservation techniques.
- Knowledge of biosafety, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements related to human specimens.
- Experience using LIMS or other sample tracking databases.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workflows in a fast-paced environment.
