Research Chemist

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal characterization studies using techniques such as DSC, HT-DSC, and TGA
• Generate and interpret analytical data to support research, product development, and manufacturing
• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for new materials and applications
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to solve complex technical challenges
• Document experimental work in electronic laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports
• Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related scientific discipline
• Laboratory experience gained through undergraduate research, internships, or co-op programs
• Fundamental understanding of chemistry, materials science, or polymer science principles
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with thermal analysis instrumentation (DSC, HT-DSC, TGA)
• Experience working with polymers, plastics, specialty chemicals, or coatings
• Familiarity with additional material characterization techniques
• Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
• Ability to troubleshoot laboratory experiments and instrumentation
