About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute research projects in microbiology, functional genomics, and antimicrobial drug resistance
  • Construct genomic mutant collections for fungal pathogens, specifically Candida albicans and Candida auris
  • Perform diverse laboratory assays including cloning, PCR, qRT-PCR, protein/enzyme assays, and microbial transformations
  • Conduct large-scale genetic mutant screens and functional/chemical genomic assays involving genome and barcode sequencing analysis
  • Liaise with interdisciplinary collaborators, including structural biologists, pharmacologists, and chemists
  • Assist in preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and research proposals for granting agencies
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students and support the overall research and training mission of the laboratory

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field with several years of postdoctoral experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in mycology, genetics, genomics, and molecular biology
  • Extensive experience working with pathogenic fungi, particularly Candida albicans and Candida auris
  • Proven track record with large-scale genetic mutant screens and mutant construction
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as monitoring transcript levels, epitope tagging, and protein purification
  • Strong experience in mentoring trainees and working within a large, collaborative laboratory environment
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and scientific communication skills
