About the role

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research on worker safety, health, employment, and policy issues in California
  • Assist with project planning, coordination, and convening meetings with project contributors
  • Create research tools and collect/analyze qualitative and quantitative data
  • Summarize and present research results for various audiences
  • Contribute to written reports, publications, and grant proposals
  • Represent the LOSH program in community meetings and professional conferences

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training
  • Experience conducting interviews and leading focus groups with workers or community audiences
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and health, the labor movement, or participatory action research
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with diverse partners
  • Valid CA driver's license in good standing with access to a car for local travel
  • Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in public health or a related field
  • Experience developing surveys and interview guides
  • Experience using qualitative analysis software (e.g., Atlas.ti) or survey programming tools (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap)
  • Experience using statistical software such as STATA
  • Experience cleaning datasets and preparing data for analysis from public sources
  • Familiarity with government agencies responsible for labor and safety regulations
