About the role
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research on worker safety, health, employment, and policy issues in California
- Assist with project planning, coordination, and convening meetings with project contributors
- Create research tools and collect/analyze qualitative and quantitative data
- Summarize and present research results for various audiences
- Contribute to written reports, publications, and grant proposals
- Represent the LOSH program in community meetings and professional conferences
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training
- Experience conducting interviews and leading focus groups with workers or community audiences
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health, the labor movement, or participatory action research
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with diverse partners
- Valid CA driver's license in good standing with access to a car for local travel
- Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in public health or a related field
- Experience developing surveys and interview guides
- Experience using qualitative analysis software (e.g., Atlas.ti) or survey programming tools (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap)
- Experience using statistical software such as STATA
- Experience cleaning datasets and preparing data for analysis from public sources
- Familiarity with government agencies responsible for labor and safety regulations
