About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate the weed science research program for various agronomic crops including corn, cotton, soybean, and wheat
  • Conduct field activities such as soil sampling, scouting, spraying, planting, and harvesting research plots
  • Maintain agricultural equipment including all-terrain vehicles, trailers, weigh wagons, tractors, and sprayers
  • Perform detailed record keeping and data management for research projects
  • Assist in maintaining and facilitating information exchange on LSU AgCenter webpages
  • Develop professional working relationships with station scientists, extension agents, and agribusiness personnel

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in plant sciences, agronomy, horticulture, plant pest management, or a related agricultural discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of agronomic crop production
  • Ability to operate farm equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Previous experience in farming or agricultural research
  • Experience operating heavy farm machinery and sprayers
