Research Associate, Cryo-EM

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality cryo-EM grids and collect datasets for diverse biomolecular systems, including soluble proteins, membrane proteins, and nanoparticles.
• Execute end-to-end workflows from vitrification and grid screening to high-throughput data acquisition.
• Operate and refine workflows to ensure reproducible, scalable, and high-throughput data generation.
• Troubleshoot challenging samples and optimize grid preparation and imaging protocols to increase robustness.
• Partner with protein science and computational teams to ensure data quality for downstream AI-driven modeling.
• Maintain rigorous documentation of all experiments within ELN and LIMS systems to ensure traceability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, physics, chemistry, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of post-baccalaureate laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting.
• Hands-on experience with cryo-EM grid preparation (including soluble/membrane proteins and nanoparticles), grid clipping, and microscope loading.
• Proficiency with ThermoFisher cryo-TEMs (e.g., Glacios, Arctica, Krios).
• Experience with automated data acquisition software such as EPU, SerialEM, or Leginon.
• Ability to rigorously document work in electronic laboratory notebooks and LIMS.
