Research Associate, Biobanking

About the Company

Parallel Bio is building a human-first drug discovery platform powered by organoids and AI. By using real human biology from the very first experiment, the company aims to solve the translation problem in drug discovery, providing a platform that is significantly more concordant with clinical patient data than traditional animal models.

Responsibilities

• Maintain rigorous, real-time chain-of-custody records for all samples and donor metadata in LIMS/ELN systems
• Receive, log, and process human biological samples following biosafety and ethical guidelines
• Isolate primary immune cells using density gradient centrifugation and magnetic separation
• Perform routine tissue and cell culture, including plating and media changes
• Execute and optimize cryopreservation and thawing protocols
• Manage biobanking workspace, including freezers, liquid nitrogen storage, and tissue culture facilities
• Monitor and manage inventory of samples, reagents, and consumables
• Contribute to the development and improvement of SOPs for sample processing and storage
• Ensure compliance with IRB protocols, HIPAA requirements, and material transfer agreements
• Perform basic QC on samples, including cell counts and viability assays

Requirements

• BS or MS in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with human primary cell or tissue processing
• Strong aseptic technique and routine experience with mammalian cell/tissue culture
• Experience using LIMS and/or ELN systems for sample tracking
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with experience managing biological inventory
• Ability to work onsite daily in San Francisco

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with basic immunological or cell-based assays such as flow cytometry or ELISA
