About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inventory and lifecycle assessments of existing laboratory equipment within the Department of Mining Engineering.
- Support equipment modernization by researching new technologies, engaging with vendors, and coordinating installations and commissioning.
- Develop and document maintenance, calibration, and service plans to ensure long-term equipment sustainability.
- Provide hands-on technical support for research and teaching laboratories, including equipment setup, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
- Assist faculty and students with laboratory procedures, experimental setups, and the safe operation of specialized instrumentation.
- Maintain accurate records for equipment specifications, warranties, service contracts, and project milestones.
Requirements
- Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of three years of related experience in a laboratory or technical environment.
- Familiarity with advanced laboratory instrumentation and technical procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg and safely handle hazardous chemicals and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in mineral processing, surface chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Experience with advanced instrumentation such as TGA, XRD, FTIR, or mineral processing equipment.
- Ability to perform, modify, or develop experimental protocols and interpret research data.
- Strong organizational skills for managing equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and chemical inventories.
- Experience managing fee-for-service operations, including client reporting and invoicing.
